The Moon and the Sea

You live in Alteria. Alteria is a vast world, filled with the most diverse people, plants, and animals. There are three dominant races who inhabit Alteria.

The humans, which are more like featherless birds than anything,

The vivari, who are like humans, but with qualities of raccoons, and badgers. They have badger-like claws, arms and legs that are covered in fur, and bushy striped tails, as well as two large ears that sit atop their heads.

And the insectoids. They are by far the most diverse of the races, being anthropomorphized insects and bugs of all kinds.

Your name is Betta. You are a seafolk woman, seafolk being an extinct race of ocean-dwelling humanoids, which had long, flexible tails accented with thick fins. The seafolk were toppled by the gods themselves.
According to your master, Lord Piro of Ephemir, the gods had attacked for no reason. An act of random aggression, that had killed off your people.

As he was a messenger of one of the gods, Ephemir, he was able to save you, and you alone.
Ephemir was...Abandoned by the other gods. Hundreds of years before their attack on your kingdom, they stripped him of his powers, and locked him away.

Ever since, the insectoid people he had ruled over, with his former wife Chrystalis, had wiped them from all of their history. It seems they'd rather forget.

But, you're living with a cult- or, rather a...Very cryptic, secret group of obsessed worshippers of this god.
You've been training your whole life for something Piro has never explained to you.

But now, it seems everything is close to being explained.

NOTE:
This story takes place in a fantasy, pseudo-medieval world.
This is not at all intended to be historically accurate, as it does not take place in our world.
This is Alteria, not Earth, so any inaccuracies, whether intentional or not, do not matter in the long run.
