Shadowlands
It was a bleary Tuesday night. You gaze out the window and sigh.
"What haven't I watched on Netflix?" you mumble to yourself as you turn back to the glowing laptop on your bed.
You idly swiped across Netflix's suggestions. You've already binge watched every season of your favorite survival zombie show, and frankly reality television makes you queasy. As your eyes began glazing over at the multitude of subpar survival horror movies in front of you. Nothing seems remotely interesting.
Faintly, you hear a muffled buzz from under your pillow. You paw behind you but the phone seems hidden in a mess of sheets. Three more buzzes followed.
"Must be Iris," you muse. "That girl never shuts up."
The buzzes continue in succession. Lazily, you reach under the pillow and finally find the phone tangled in the sheets. Unlocking the screen, your breath stops as you read the messages. Suddenly, the emergency alert signal goes off as you read the latest message from your sister:
GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN. RUN. THEY'RE H
You scroll to the last text. Where is the rest of the message from your sister? What is "H"?
As you puzzle over her message, an emergency alert text pops up:
"Emergency alert system activated. This is not a test. Stay indoors. All highways closed to non-emergency vehicles until further notice."
