Hall of Infinite Doors
You don't know if you screamed. It would be natural if you did. Anyone would scream. You didn't need to, though, because soon after you started running you heard a hideous crashing sound from behind you, a stone-grinding, squealing, hissing noise that could only be the horrible monster in motion. The sight of it overwhelmed your brain, and the thought of it pursuing you made you run fast, faster, fastest you've ever gone. You did not see or register the cave around you. You did not know what would happen when you emerged. You just ran.
Unfortunately, it ran faster than you. First one head snapped at you, then another. Then one connected, crushing your torso between powerful jaws. The others ripped your body apart and quickly devoured you. And then the beast, satisfied with its snack, slept once more, and you did not have to feel the hunger of winter in this crude land you came to.
