You slip the holster onto your back and slide the axe into it before pushing through the brush. After countless scrapes and cuts you find yourself on a new trail. Checking your compass you see that it leads NW to SE.

Thick tire marks, at least a day old, are pressed into the earth. If the tread is any indication of where the vehicle was headed, it went NW.

You are still in the thick of the forest with no real insight as to where the woods end and the next terrain begins.

Far off ahead of you, not in any direction the trails take you, you can hear the river you encountered earlier flowing by.

Above you comes an automated voice. "123 contestants remain."
