You retrace your steps further up the trail, coming back to the grove of trees in the little valley some thirty minutes later. You begin gathering smaller sticks and twigs from the tree to serve as kindling before working on ripping at the larger branches. You are eventually able to gather enough wood to last the night.

You get the fire started and huddle up in your furs as the announcer updates the death toll twice more overhead.

Your eyes grow heavy and you are soon asleep. You're not sure how long your eyes are closed but above the crackling of the fire you hear the crunch of footsteps in the snow heading towards your camp. You open your eyes and spy a tall and skinny man shivering in the cold and staring longingly into the flames licking at the wood.
