The blood that dribbles down your chin soon congeals in the cold while
you work at skinning the fur from the wolves bodies.

When you are finished, you throw the pelts over your shoulders and
continue moving down the path, your mind obsessing over the bitch who left you for the wolves. Revenge would be sweet for you and agonizing for her. You plot her slow and tormented death as you move farther along the trail.

The path takes a few rough turns, in and out of little valleys. You
soon step over two wolf carcasses and are pleased at the understanding
that with the wolves dead you will still have an opportunity to kill the conniving bitch.

Not that the wolves really had a chance at you. You killed a bear with
your bare hands after all. What real damage could a few wolves do?

Following her steps along the side of the mountain you soon come upon
something that cannot be described as anything other than an obstacle.

The trail suddenly drops some several hundred feet down the gigantic
rock formation on which you stand. The marks of her passing continues on the other side of the path as though she walked across the twelve foot expanse of nothingness.

You look up the mountain wall and see a few hand holds that are
precarious at best. You're not sure if you will be able to climb the wall over the gorge. Maybe you won't have to though; it doesn't look like she did, unless this fell recently....

Maybe you should go back; you passed a couple of side trails in following her path. But if you go back you may be passing up an opportunity for revenge. Hatred for the woman consumes you, but instinct for survival nags at the back of your head.
