You head down the path, attempting in vain to ignore the cold which slaps at you in the wind. Snow mists at you as the wind picks up granules of the cold white stuff and pelts you with it; each flake like a tiny needle of ice.

The trail leads ever downward along a steep and often treacherous path full of rock and ice, making it ever difficult or you to remain on your feet.

Somehow you manage to make it down the hill and on the path to a bit of a narrow valley of snow, and ice, and stone save for two lonesome pines in the middle of it all; the green a sharp contrast to the colorless surroundings.

You spy a cave on the other side of the valley where you can take some reprieve from the bitter cold, and start to walk towards it when fell the ground start to crack below your feet. Perhaps the ground below you is all ice, unable to support your weight. Maybe you shouldn't risk it, but you're not sure you can stand the cold much longer. The trees aren't too far, you think; maybe you should head for them, either way you'll have to venture across the valley floor.
