Arena by donteatpoop
You are Michael Sweeney.

You awaken to the sound of a voice speaking to you from the black sky above. You are totaly blind and can only hear the voice.

"Welcome to the Arena, freinds. The contest will officialy begin when I am finished speaking. Around you are your starting items; a pack, a kerosine lighter, a compass, an army knife, two canteens of water, and a days rationing of food. There are 200 hundred contestants in here, we will update you on how the contest is progressing through the loud speakers. Feel free to explore anywhere you like, as the contest progresses we will begin pushing all of you towards the center. No more than four can claim the prize at the end. Every inch of this place is on camera and being sent to a massive viewing office back on Earth, so bear that in mind. Remember, the prize is waiting for you at the end of the road. I wish all of you luck."

Light. You see a faint glimmer of light. You kick your legs a bit, this is the time to start. You know it is.

Michelle in your mind, you jump to your feet. This could be the final chance you ever get to bust out of that god-forsaken prison and be a free man once again.

But you know that while this is your big opportunity, it also might be your biggest downfall. These people are known throughout the world as killers, some because of their insanity and others are sane. You're not sure which is worse.

You'll have to rely on your wits. While these people will bully their way through the competition, your mind will save you. You just need to make some strong friends, find some strong weapons, and make your move when the time is right.

For now, though, you need to survive. You hitch your supply pack to your back and gather up the equipment spread around you beofre taking a look at your surroundings. You had expected to either be in a small incapsulated area or maybe some dark forest. Instead, you find yourself in a field populated by short shoots of grass and twisting reeds. Towards the north you see some mountains towering not exceptionally far away. Perhaps only four hours. To the east is more plains, and to the south a desert looms in the distance. You turn west and gasp. To the west is an ledge. You must be thousands of feet above the surface in this thing, or else some huge illusion is distorting your image of the world.

Bloody corporate bastards. Playing with people's lives like this. What's wrong with them? But they have given you this chance. And you must take it.

Which way do you go?
