Arena by donteatpoop
You are Wan, an Asian man in your late fifties who has mastered all known forms of martial arts. You have instructed only the best students in your dojo, and have never finished lower than fourth ranked in all competitions you have entered. You hope that this will be no exception.

This contest is different, though. Multiple terrains, weapon variations, survival and endurance tests, and combat situations. It seems the most true test of your lifelong training.

You awaken to the sound of a voice speaking to you from the black sky above. You are totaly blind and can only hear the voice.

"Welcome to the Arena, freinds. The contest will officialy begin when I am finished speaking. Around you are your starting items; a pack, a kerosine lighter, a compass, an army knife, two canteens of water, and a days rationing of food. There are 200 hundred contestants in here, we will update you on how the contest is progressing through the loud speakers. Feel free to explore anywhere you like, as the contest progresses we will begin pushing all of you towards the center. No more than four can claim the prize at the end. Every inch of this place is on camera and being sent to a massive viewing office back on Earth, so bear that in mind. Remember, the prize is waiting for you at the end of the road. I wish all of you luck."

Silence. You look around, but everything is still shrouded in darkness. "Let there be light!", the voice booms overhead.

And suddenly there is light.

Light began shining down from above, the source an artificial sun in the sky. You look around and see that you are in a desert, your promised items nearby on the desert floor.

You put your items in the pack, all save for the compass. You look around you and then glance at the compass face. Desert is in all directions as far as your eyes can see.

There are four directions in which you can go, which do you decide on?
