The Thing Revisited by JudgeWall
As Riles began to walk toward what little remained of the outlying buildings, he decided that it might be wise to check out the helicopter half buried in the Antarctic snow. After his years in the Navy, Riles new that helicopters in Antarctic extremes were required to carry pretty heavy duty transmitting radios to communicate.

With a quick whispered curse regarding snow and cold, Riles began digging out the helicopters passenger side door. The tarp that had been covering the front proportion of the helicopter lifted gently up and down in the Antarctic breeze.

After a few hard pulls on the door, the door snapped open with a decided crack. Peering inside, Riles said "Shit, some crazy bastard has cut up this copter's innards."

About to abandon the helicopter as useless, Riles observed what appeared to be a tape recorder jammed in between the pilot's seat and the gears. Reaching over, Riles pulled the tape recorder out.

Riles observed that the recorder had a cassette tape inside. As Riles began to pull his body backward out of the helicopter, it was necessary to twist his arm that held the tape recorder a bit to swing free of the helicopter's doorway.

As Riles did so, he noticed that recorder had a piece of paper taped to the back of recorder. Now outside of the helicopters door and with both feet on the ground, Riles turned the paper up and into the light. The paper read merely "Important Listen".

Riles tried the recorder, but the batteries must have been dead. With a slight grimace, Riles wondered whether he should still check out the outbuildings find Walker and Davison.
