The Ninja Epidemic by donteatpoop
You step out onto the porch and wait for Rick to arrive and for your cousin to return. Your eyes watch the street as you think about the things that have been happening. James is dead. You were pretty close to James. You've known him since you were little. It's hard to imagine life without him. But it's true. And you have to accept that. All you have now is revenge.

During your brooding you barely notice a dark form duck out briefly from the tree in your yard. You stand up and prepare to extract some of that revenge. You point the shotgun your cousin gave you at the tree and wait. It isn't long before the ninja presents itself. You shoot at it but miss terribly, the ninja doesn't even flinch. Your aim has never been very good, you are reminded. The ninja begins to charge at you. You unload three more bullets, the first hits the ninja in the shoulder, the second misses. The third bullet is what did the ninja in. It explodes through his neck, leaving a gaping hole of gore in its wake.

Stupid ninja.

Not long after you see Rick pull up in his car. He gets out and looks at the ninja.

"Holy shit. You got one." He says. He walks over to see you. "What's up?" He asks.

"Just killing ninjas." You say non-chalantley. You sit down on the porch steps, Rick sits beside you.

"It's fucked up about James." He says. You do not reply. The two of you sit in a mutual silence for a long while, feeling the loss of a friend between you.

"Where's your cousin and all the weapons?" He asks you.

"He went for beer." You inform him.

"I think I'm going to like your cousin." He says to you.

Some more time passes and your cousin has still not returned. The store is right down the street, less than a two minute drive. He should be back by now.

Do you continue to wait where you are or go down to the store and see what's going on?
Keep waiting for him. He'll show up sooner or later.
