A Technology Carol by TPCBoos
I woke up with a start! What was that? I saw beside me a child playing a pinball machine, the old Bally brand. Lights were flashing! Ding! Dingdingding! Wow! I remember that game. The child faced me with lifted arms and the machine disappeared. "You must remember me, I'm the only one that's never beat you at this game." Was it? Oh my, it is! Me! The 9 year old in front of me stared and spoke softly and said, " Nothing stopped you from maintaining your title as pinball champ, because you had no fear! You had dreams and hopes and they all were realized." Right then a sharp "whack" against the window woke me up from chair. Oh man, what a nightmare. I didn't like to be reminded of the free spirit I once was. I couldn't remember how I did it all those years ago. I dozed off again.
The next thing I knew. I was sitting in a classroom, this was no ordinary classroom, this was my classroom. The bell rang! What am I doing here? The door flew open and 40 students came storming in. My roster indicated that this was 6th grade. They all sat down and looked at me in complete silence. You could hear a pin drop. I looked down at my lesson plan and saw a seriers of numbers, symbols and words. I opened my mouth to speak and computer parts cmae out. My throat was in agony as the steel and metal and wire would not stop. The students looked on as I was being buried in computer parts. They began to roar in laughter and aging before my eyes. As they all aged, the laughter quieted. I couldn't breathe, I was drowning. HOWLLLLLL! UGHHHH! I can't sleep anymore! The nightmares are getting worse. I put on the TV and poured another shot! The doorbell rang. What? Who could be out in this weather? I peeked out the curtain and saw the most beautiful creature I've ever seen. The creature was holding a ball of light. I let it in.
What will the creature do?
