Pick Your Poison 2 (Drugs)

You manage to slip away from your guardians and sneak out onto the front porch. As you wait for your parents, you realize how stupid you were to even think of coming here. You're miserable, and you know your girlfriend's probably not too happy either, seeing as she has sustained a serious head wound and knows that you are responsible. "Man," you whisper to yourself. "How could I possibly be such an idiot? I might have killed someone tonight, all because I lacked the sense to just stay home! This just might have been the dumbest thing I've ever done." "No, son," your dad says as he steps out of the car that has just pulled into Andrea's driveway. "This IS the dumbest thing you've ever done." "Awww, man," you think. "I must really be in trouble. It isn't often that mom sends in the re-enforcements." Maybe it was the look in your eyes, maybe it was the way you hung your head, you don't know, but as if your father had a way to know exactly what you were thinking, he says, "Yes, you are in a lot of trouble, kiddo. Get in the car." You walk the short distance to the car as if you were walking to be burnt at a stake like a witch in Salem. On the nearly endless drive home, your father explains that you had a serious lack of judgement in going to that party, and that it was very irresponsible. In laymen's terms, he's pretty much just reminding you of what you already know: That you're an idiot. It was stupid to go to that party, especially when you wouldn't have been allowed to if your mom knew about your English grade. As if your dad could read your mind, he says to you, "Oh yes, one more thing. Your English teacher called and said that your performance in calss was beginning to drag a little, and that your last English paper was nothing higher hat an F. You will have time to bring up the grade while you are on punsihment." That last word lingers ominously in your ears, along with the fear it strikes into your heart. "P-p-punishment?" you manage to stutter. Your father looks at you incredulously. He says, "You mean, you thought you'd just get off the hook with a talking to?" Then he starts to laugh. "Oh, no." He continues when he has recovered. "You're grounded until further notice." "Great," you think. You know that when your parents say 'further notice', they forget about you being grounded and just leave you that way for months. Before tonight, this would have been great. You would have just snuck out. But, after what happened tonight, you'd rather stay home anyway.
