Pick Your Poison 2 (Drugs)
Even though you are clearly not an expert, you remember enough from the movies to give yourself and Carrie your first try of cocaine. You feel guilty about using it, as well as sharing it with Carrie. After a few lines, you ask her to take you home. On the way home, you both sit in silence, until finally you say, "You know, I really didn't mean to pressure you to try that stuff if you didn't want to." "It's okay," says Carrie. "I didn't have to do it." "We don't ever have to do it again," you remind her. "Yeah, I know," she says. At home in your driveway, you get out of the car and thank her for the ride. As she drives away, you have a feeling that something irreversable has happened tonight.
Months go by and then years. You graduate from high school and keep loosely in touch with a few close friends. Years later, you hear through the grapevine that a girl from your class has committed suicide. It seems she had been hooked on cocaine, and then ecstacy, crystal meth, and any number of other drugs known as "uppers." Upon hearing the news, you can't help but think back on that dreadful night, wondering if another choice made by you could have changed the path of history in the life of your friend Carrie. Unbeknownst to anyone else, you mourn silently for your friend, her wasted life, and your own choices.
