If she wants to go, that's her call, not yours. You look away, willing time to go by faster. You swear Mr. Minnow stares at you for a moment before looking away. Huh. Wonder what that was about. The bell rings, and everyone gets up to leave.

"I'm, um, going to go to the meeting," Erin says quietly. She gives you a quick glance before her eyes dart away, opting to rub her wrist instead. "Are you going too?"

You shake your head. She bows hers.

"Okay," she says. "See you." She disappears in the cloud of students in the hallway, and you can't see her platinum-colored hair anywhere. Did you do the right thing?

You turn the other way and head to your own class. You groan. Ugh, it's your least favorite one:
