You seem to have misjudged your strength with a sword. You also misjudged your skill and experience. Most importantly, you misjudged that there was no way you could take on 50 guards at once. That room you failed to notice, was full of armed guards. As soon as one guard saw you, he raised an alarm. Soon, 50 or more guards were on you. As they surround you, you realize there's only one way to go. Down. You jump over the edge, only to discover that this bottomless pit, unfortunely, has a bottom.
