Erinyes Game
The next morning, you blink purple stars out of your eyes, looking up at the harsh fluorescent lights on the ceiling. Looking around, you see a bunch of unfamiliar women sitting in a circle around a wide table, all of them looking just as disoriented as you feel. One face in particular feels a little familiar, but you can’t be sure. The room itself is dreary with dark furniture and decorations; the only bright thing other than the lights is a golden scale, glittering in the center of the table.
“Finally awake?” asks the familiar-looking woman. “You’re the last one to wake up. Are you feeling all right?”
“I-I think so.” Struck with the feeling of deja vu, you touch your neck, feeling a mark there as if from a tight necklace. Instead, you notice a metal armband around your wrist. “What’s going on?”
Before she can reply, a new voice booms out of the loudspeakers on the ceiling. “Greetings all! Welcome to my game: the Mousai Game.” The deep voice announces. “You can call me Hades.”
Your eyes widen. You’ve been in this situation before. The dawning realization seems to be hitting the other person, and she meets your eye for a second.
Hades continues to explain the rules. Apparently all of you are the Muses, though three of you are Gorgon sisters, meant to kill the others. There is also an Oracle role. That’s the only special role, and you’re filled with an odd fear that no one could possibly survive the nights on their own.
“Please reach under your chair to find your name and your role.”
You reach down and scan the paper.
Your name is Clio. You are a Gorgon.
