Edmund was horrified on two counts. He could not understand how Ella, this exquisite young lady, would know anything about such a disgraceful topic as "Family Planning." This could only be talked about between medically qualified men and husbands in darkened rooms.

Secondly, he was perturbed that his brother, his own flesh and blood, could masquerade without using the family name "Withenstrop" and edit such an unseemly publication.
