Extend the Story - Add a Room

They look at you again, confusion mixing with deep internal thoughts that you can't describe. They stare at you for so long that you don't know if they can talk or not. After a few minutes, you gulp and say, "Um, never mind then?"
As you're turning away, they speak. Their voice comes out slow and raspy, as if it hasn't been used in a while. "You're new here, aren't you?"
"Yeah," you say, turning towards the person again. "How…How long have you been here?"
"Too long." They slowly stand, and you gulp again, but this time in fear. They're at least half a foot taller than you. "Too long," they say again.
