Ghost Pirates of the Sea-erra Madre
You just avoided getting eaten alive, no way are you examining some weird glowing cube.
You decide you should head back to the surface, but before you do you catch a strange glint from the corner of your eye.
You swim closer and see what looks like a gold bar partially buried in the sand! You dig deeper and discover not just one, but several of them. You're rich!
You try to swim to the surface while holding one bar, but find it much too heavy to hold in your hands and try to swim upwards. It must weight at least 12 kilograms or 27 pounds!
You could maybe fashion some sort of sling to carry it, but you're running out of oxygen. You decide to return to the surface and get more equipment to help you carry the treasure to the surface.
You get to the surface, but find yourself some distance from your boat. By the time you swim close enough for you to hail them it's almost dark. When you return to the ocean floor the next morning you're unable to find the gold bars despite searching for several days. You do end up discovering a new species of sea snail, but you can't help but be somewhat disappointed.
