You left the spatula in the basement so that you could climb the ladder. Throckmorton slaps you in the ribs and you fall backwards into Hedge Hogson (who is still on the ladder) and fall back into the basement plus you get a bad case of spinal spines. You are still alive, but Throckmorton wins by such a large margin so it's better to just accept defeat and end the story right here/there and now/then.
