A Thing
You raise your knife once more to strike the killing blow, only to be shot in the chest by the old man.
Yet, as your body falls, so too do your arms with the knife in them. The knife falls upon the old man, killing him with a sharp and unexpected "thunk." Your two corpses lie locked in endless combat until the next day, when the street cleaner discovers the bodies and takes them home to cook up for dinner.
