Extend the Story - Add a Room

The Middle Mary Sue by Twiggy
You start to walk across the springy grass towards the river, with a cool breeze blowing in your face and the sun beating down on your head. At first the sensation is pleasant, after the dank, close forest, but after a little while it becomes uncomfortable as you feel your pale skin begin to fry.

Sweat beads on your forehead, and your mouth feels sticky with the horrid taste of thirst. You start to jog toward the water.

You are still moving, but have slowed to an exhausted walk, by the time the sun starts to sink below the cotton-candy clouds. You pause for a moment to catch your breath and watch the sunset, and a pang of guilt hits you as you think of Goldflower and Esmyralda, no doubt wrapped in silk with their fluids sucked out by now. The thought makes you feel sick.

The wind starts to pick up, and a lonely-sounding howl echoes from across the river. You shiver, telling yourself it is only with the cold. But stillÂ…

It is dark now, and you have a choice: should you try to rest out here, exposed in the open, or should you press on towards the waterÂ… and the wolves?
