Extend the Story - Add a Room

Errant by AnonAnon
You don't want to grow lazy before your life changing adventure. This was a nice distraction, but ultimately you have to make your own path and see through the harsh landscape.

On the seventh day you can see the Iceberg's Crossing on the horizon and by midday the Captain sends you down on a dingy to meet (somewhat) solid ground. The wind has picked up and with it flurries of crystal snow twinkle as they scratch at your skin. Its colder than anything you've ever experienced before. Luckily the Crossing isn't only a name. A small settlement covered in white greets you with a glow of warm light seeping out of the frost covered windows.

You make your way into town hoping to find somewhere to stay for the night. As something of a crossroad settlement it isn't hard to find an inn amongst the quaint buildings. Its a great building of wood and stone and clay; a part of you wonders how it manages to sit atop the ice without making it crack. Regardless it looks as old as the rest of the town, if not older, and that reassures you enough to push through and enter.

The warm rush of air that greets you is almost jarring. It take you a few moments before you warm up and feel comfortable. You waste no time finding the counter and asking about a room for the evening. The innkeeper seems somewhat disinterested in your presence, but names her price all the same.

You pull out your coin purse and begin counting. Your heart drops as you count again, and again. You haven't nearly enough. You could try and charm the innkeeper, perhaps she'd be willing to give you a discount. Or maybe offer to help out with some of the work to pay for your stay. Then again, maybe there's a church or somewhere that would be willing to offer you a roof for the night. What will you do?
