The Secret Triwizard Challenge
You throw the apple into the pool. The apple sloshes in the waves, then turns pure silver and sinks to the bottom of the pool. The silver pools apparently turns things to silver! Good thing you didn't walk into it (hopefully).
But now, nothing happens, and you have no apple, so you go to pick another one.
As soon as the apple snaps off the tree, the ground beneath you rumbles. Roots from the trees burst from the ground, wrap around you, and force you to the ground. You must have taken more than you need. You should have obeyed the sign!
Your wand slips out of your hand. You are truly and thoroughly stuck.
------
You can find no way out. The next morning, the professors check on their challenges within the maze and find you, tired and dehydrated, in the clutches of the tree. They get you out, but are furious that you went into the maze. Frankly, you'll probably be expelled. But that's nothing in comparison to the fact that you lost the race. YOU LOSE!
