Extend the Story - Add a Room

Errant by AnonAnon
You met the captain of the Ragged Seal not at the docks but in a tavern you often frequent. He introduced himself as Grove. Grove is a stout human man, short and old. He gives the word scraggly new meaning. His hair grow low on his head but hangs down pas his shoulders where it meets his bushy white beard. One of his eyes is stuck permanently to the right and the other looks constantly dilated. You've never seen him take anything, but you've never seen him act sober either.

But when he overheard your plans to go north, he couldn't help but offer his services. And after a few drinks, his offer sounded more and more enticing. However seeing the Ragged Seal and grove in the broad light of day is a sobering feeling. The ship looks as small as a local fishing dingy and the way it wobble even on still waters is more than a little concerning. But the way Grove smiles as he sees you coming make you feel...something. Pity maybe?

"Aye welcome aboard young Faust!" He called through his yellow teeth. "Glad to see you won't be landlocked. Timb here bet me a months wages ya wouldn't show." You notice the smaller man next to Grove, a dwarf. Grove slaps him on the back as laughs. Timb grumbles something under his breath and dips down under the deck as you board.

"Ah don't mind him. Timb's got a stick up his arse as tall as the mast." Grove assures you. "But you'll have time to get acquainted. Shall we set off?"

You nod and the sailors begin prepping for departure. You would have thought it would take more than a crew of two to man a ship, but the men seem to have their respective duties on lock. You try to help out as you can, but on a ship that size you're getting in their way more often than not. After a while you decide to sit back and let them work. You find a spot on the deck away from any important ropes or otherwise and make yourself comfortable. The rocking of the ship starts to feel soothing to you and you feel yourself dozing off. You're almost asleep when you feet a boot kick your shin.

"Don't sleep there, fool." Timb snarls. Up close he looks just as disheveled as Grove, but nowhere near as crazed. The fiery red of his beard and hair matches the intensity of his eyes. "Never met someone so stupid in all my life." He mutters to himself as he leaves.

And just as you were finally getting comfortable, now what?
