In Love With an Aven
You lay outside on the cold tile floor, half asleep, watching nurses run in and out of the room more frequently now. Violets screams echo breifly through the hallway each time the door opens. Oddly, a babies wail intermingles with the sound of her screams but her cries of pain for not cease for another hour.
Finally, when the door opens all you hear is a tired moan. The nurse motions you in and you lift yourself from the tile floor where the once pale girl now lays bright red and sweaty. She holds four tiny babies in her arms and you gasped in surprise.
“My husband hurt me for the last time Emma. But what he didn’t know was that the pain wouldn’t just give me one beautiful baby. It would give me four.” She croaks.
You remember!” You cry excitedly. She nods, smiling weakly.
“They’re letting me go tomorrow if I still remember. They’re letting me keep the babies too! But I’ll need help taking care of them.” She smiles at you.
“Are you asking me to come with you?” You cry excitedly. She nods and smiles.
“I guess you will be leaving after all.” The handsome ward comes in, smiling proudly at Violet and her babies.
“But don’t forget to keep in touch.” He smiles at you, handing you a slip of paper with his name and number. Jason Demirio. You smile. You won’t forget.
