Marooned on Giri Minor

"Look," Siggo says over the comm, "I appreciate the determination you two are showing, I really do, but I can't risk the lives of everyone else."

"Captain, this will only take a minute!" Indrian protests, but now objects are starting to whiz past you at a much faster rate. It looks like hail, but these are actually rocks traveling at a deadly speed--and they are getting bigger by the second. They are starting to pelt the ship now, and while the hull was designed to withstand debris impacts, even the byrillium shielding will be shredded by a full-on shower of speeding asteroids.

The pylon lurches away from you and Indrian as the thrusters do their work, and for the first time you realize just how terribly dire your situation really is. You are still tethered to the ship, but the airlock is some 80 meters away, and the two of you are both fully exposed to the full brunt of the approaching asteroid cloud. Are these rocks the remains of Giri Minor's exploded moon? Does it even matter at this point?

The FabBot gets nailed by one of the speeding rocks and is flung off into space, so you an Indrian grab your tethers and start to pull your way back toward the airlock. But in purely mathematical terms, you know the odds of you successfully making it that far are pretty close to zero.
