The Prom
The manager watches you as you walk into the bright store. As you walk to the register your eyes begin to sting, but you try to hold it in. The manager walks up and confronts you. Her face has a glow, but her eyebrows turn in with frustration. The nauseating smell of cheap perfume in the air burns you throat as you inhale. You take the dress out of your purse, and a tear trickles down your face as you see the managers staring at the dress in your arms. She gives you a short lecture, and some how lets you off the hook. Her kindness and understanding was enough to keep you from breaking down. The Kindness however didn't heal the guilt. So instead of letting yourself just forget about the incident, you make yourself stay home from the prom.
