One Way Out
You decided to hide in the library right beside the classroom. The lights were turned completely off and there was only the steady glow of the emergency lights to light the room. You decided to hide behind the librarian's table, right underneath. You scooted the chair so that it no one could tell where you were. You were just going to sit this one out.
Chances are, Brandon was dead. It was just John, who was teamed up with Emma. There was no chance you could beat the two of them, what with their assortment of weapons. Someone entered the room and you could hear a torrent of curses in a feminine voice. Emma. Looks like she was scared, too. John must be after her as well. This was slightly better.
The door opened again, this time way more violent. "Emma? You in here?" John called out. "Emma, I know you're in here, you can't hide forever." You could tell from his voice that he was getting closer to your spot. He walked by, dragging Emma's axe behind him. The lights flickered on and you jumped, jerking the chair in front of you away.
"Oh, you're in here, aren't you," John said and got closer. There was nowhere to run. You pushed yourself further into the desk but there was only so much space. John pushed the chair away and peeked under the table.
"Not Emma, but still good enough," he smiled a devilish smile and grabbed you by your arm and flung you across the room. You scrambled to get up but there were black spots at the edges of your vision and you had to steady yourself. John sprinted towards you and you couldn't get far. You turned around to see where he was and you saw that he was holding the axe up, mid swing. You flung yourself to the side and felt the axe embed in your arm.
You cried out at the pain. It was insane. Adrenaline pumped through your veins and blocked the pain. You tried to run again but John got you again. Another swing, sideways this time, and you tried to roll away with your useless arm, which didn't work. You felt it impact square in the chest and you fell down, unable to get up.
Everything was numb and you couldn't do anything except flail your arms. You saw John walk away. "Ah, Emma, here you are," he said and you could hear Emma's gasp. There was a thud near you. She got up and started to run, but tripped over your arm. Your vision started to turn black again and you faded out of consciousness.
