Erinyes Game
Part of you is curious as to what’s down there. The other part of you is screaming to get out of there—you barely got away form the Fury alive, and now you want to test fate again by following your inevitable death? No, thank you.
You quickly leave the storage room and head back down the hallway. Now that the Fury isn’t chasing you for now, maybe you can simply hide and wait for time to be over.
Before you know it, you realize that your feet have carried you right back to your room. You’re far too scared to think of going anywhere else at this point so you decide to just settle here.
Grabbing a blanket off your bed, you lie down on the couch in front of the fireplace, trying to calm yourself down.
You barely move from that spot for hours, surrounded by the sounds of the crackling fire and your own breathing. You can’t help but wonder why the Fury hasn’t come to find you yet, and why you haven’t heard anything from Aphrodite this whole time. Your mind wanders back to the sound of that Fury’s voice, but before you can think too hard about it you shake your head. You don’t really want to think about anything right now.
Soon enough, the time for the Moirae phase arrives. You force yourself to shed the comforts of the heavy blanket and, with one last look at the fire, you leave your room.
The judgement room is empty, save for you. Your heart sinks as you realize that Aphrodite isn’t going to be joining you. But then what…?
You’re saved from your increasingly darker thoughts by the arrival of a newcomer. You haven’t met this man before; intimidating and tall, wearing purple and black, with a disapproving look etched on his face.
“Hello, Hestia. I would like to say that it’s a pleasure to be here in front of you now, but that would be a lie.”
That deep voice is far too familiar. “Are you Hades?”
“I am. And I am very much disappointed in you, Hestia.”
You blink at him, not understanding. He almost sounds like an upset parent.
“You really didn’t try to defend yourself from the Fury, you didn’t search for more information. You only hid from the problems.”
“What? What was I supposed to do, then, go find the Fury myself and seek death that much sooner? You know, I don’t know why I’m trying to explain myself to you,” you say, growing angry. “You threw me into a horrible game and made us all kill each other. I don’t owe you any explanation.”
“Sure, I did put you in this game, but I can also take you out of it.”
You stare at him suspiciously, not even allowing yourself to feel any hope.
Hades smile briefly. “You don’t trust me, and quite frankly you’re not wrong. Very well then, let’s finish this last Moirae and let you finally leave this game.”
Paralyzed with fear, you watch as he lifts a finger and points it right at you.
Your choker ignites in flames, making you scream at the sudden scorching heat. You knew you didn’t trust this man.
“Farewell, Hestia.”
