LOTR

The fellowship manages to make it to the top and manage to descend into the wide shallow trough, but they no longer have shelter from the rocks. As they trudge through the snow, an avalanche is thrown at them. Pippin is in the direct line of a massive boulder but Gandalf rescues him. However, in his attempt to save the young Took, Gandalf himself is struck by the boulder and perishes. Though the fellowship manages to complete their journey over Caradhras, they do so with sorrow in their hearts for the loss of their companion.
