Signs of the Infected
You manage to safety get past the zombies and head back into the clearing where you came from. It takes you a few hours to gain your bearings and then you are on your way back to the bunker, and back home to your family.
When you find the entrance to the bunker it is almost dark outside. You had been gone for two days. You know your parents are probably worried sick. With a big smile on your face you go up to the bunker door and knock hard three times. Your father's voice appears behind the door.
"Whose out there?" He asks.
"Dad?"
The large steel platted door opens and your father appears at the door. Through his gas mask you can see the tears in his eyes. "Daughter? Is it really you?" He asks.
"Yes Dad, and I brought back food."
You and your father hug. You made it back safe and sound. You managed to escape the infected and not be turned into a zombie.
You also learned that even though the world itself was infected, it didn't mean that you had to be. Using your head and keeping on your toes is what saved your life. And that's what would keep you alive for many years to come.
