The Fairground

[FALL ONTO THE TOP OF THE BUILDING]

I couldn’t hold on any longer, I kept telling myself. My heart was pounding so hard I could feel the blood pulsing through the veins of my ears to my forehead. My arms began to shake, and my fingers were losing grip rapidly, dragging down the armrest of the seat hanging upside down from the rollercoaster and rocking back and forth. I knew I was going to fall, and it would be in only a matter of seconds before I did. I looked down at the small building beneath the ‘Ring of Death’ near the carnival operator booth. It was risky, but I had no choice and there was the slightest chance I would make it. The rollercoaster was stopped low enough for me to reach the rooftop of the building, it seemed. Maybe If I could swing my body with enough strength, I could probably land on the it, I thought.

I closed my eyes, and took one last breath before I let go. I flung my body as hard as i could towards the direction of the building. I must have fell at least 50 feet from the rollercoaster.

My head throbbed, screaming as the air rushed into my eyes making it hard to keep them open I stared directly at the top of the building rooftop. My heart felt like it was going to explode. This is it, I thought, if i don’t make this i am going to die like everybody else who had fallen out of the rollercoaster. I flailed my hands out in front of me as I was about to land on the building.

Just when it looked like I was going to make it on top, my right leg collided into the edge of the siding of the building, digging into my knee. My body spun, and I screamed in such horrible agony immediately reaching my hands out to grab the ledge of the building top, and my whole body rolled off the side of the building, falling off and landing onto my left arm, with all of my weight, snapping the bone connected to my lower arm to my elbow.

“AAAAAAGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!” I screamed in excruciating pain, squeezing hard onto my right arm, with the pain in my knee burning with inflamation. Blood dripped out from the my pant leg as I rocked back and forth on the pavement for a good while before I started to notice the riders bodies scattered all across the fair. I looked at my arm, it was definitely broken, but my knee seemed to not be. Maybe I could pick myself up to my feet and walk, I thought. Moments went by before I could collect myself. I cried, hesitating before reaching up towards the metal bar on attached to the side of the building I had failed miserably to land on. I grabbed the pole, and used all the force I had left in me and pulled myself up.

I groaned in awful pain, standing up, looking down at the blood patches dripping down the lower sleeve of my pants. I looked around the fairground from the distance. There were more than a dozen dead bodies spread across the entrance of the Ring of Death, laying in pools of blood on the pavement. I couldn't find Eric's body, but I knew he was close by and most definitely not alive. A tear rolled down my cheek, and my vision started to blur. I shook my head and tried not to think about it all as I began to limp away from the graveyard of the bodies of all the passengers. I looked up at the rollercoaster and I tried to see if I could still see her, but it was too dark to see clearly.

At that moment, I heard a distant squeaking, that sounded like metal grinding against metal somewhere nearby from where I was standing in the fairgrounds. Then all of a sudden, I heard a loud scream fill the air saying "HELP ME!" from behind the Ring of Death Rollercoaster. It was a survivor! I rushed towards the sound of the scream, dragging my right leg, trying to get there as fast as I could.

I finally reached the other side, I glanced to my left and then to my right. "HELP! I'M UP HERE! LOOK UP!" the voice frantically yelled, into a dry quivering cracked dry whisper. I looked up towards the dark sky but I couldn't see anybody.
"UP HERE!" he screamed again, even louder than before, with a grunt in his voice this time and I saw shadowed figure slowly move dangling from the steel beams connected to the rollercoaster . There was a man hanging from nothing but a seatbelt harness wrapped around one of the steel beams.

"Please! I'm stuck! I can't get out! All my friends are dead...George...Rachel...they're all dead. Please! You need to get me off this!" The wrinkles on his forehead arched up, his sweat looked glazed as it reflected in the moonlight. I look up, helplessly, then around the Amusement park again, trying to think of ways I could reach high enough to bring him down. "I don't know how I can reach you!" I said, feeling defeated while looking around me, for anything that could help reach him. I looked in the distance and saw a maintenance building not too far away, and on the side of the building is a ladder chained with steel links against the wall. "Wait... I see a ladder!". I stumbled over to the maintenance building, hearing the man yell out "HURRY!" from behind me. I rush as fast as i am able with my knee pulsating with pain in each step I take, while holding my right arm to hold it from swinging. I reached the building and I unloosened the chain holding the ladder. I caught the ladder as it lunged forward and the weight shifted as it wobbled, unbalancing back and forth in my hands so I dragged it on the ground instead.

I made my way back using as many large steps back as I could to the rollercoaster to where the man was still hanging. The sweat on his face was more drenched. His eyes grew wider, and he spoke frantically, "Thank you so much! My name is Richard, by the way, my friends are..." he said sharply, as he looked distractedly at the corpses nearby lying in pools of blood. I looked down, with a sad look on my face. After a brief moment of silence I extended the frames of the ladder, flattened the legs, and faced it up to where he was dangling.

"Wait!...Who is that? Is that someone to help!? HEY! WE NEED SOME HELP HERE, MISTER!" Richard suddenly cried out, pointing and shouting to the figure walking slowly in the dark towards us. I looked over and saw the figure's arms move in the dark, and a loud click snapped together like a gun being reloaded. Before I could blink, a spark of flames shot out in a circular motion and a ball flew towards us, and directly into Richard's chest. The force of the explosion lifted me up from my shoes, throwing me into the air, and knocked the ladder backwards. My ears were ringing from the explosion, but I could still hear a loud scream amplifying as I stared up and saw something falling from the sky. It was the girl that was in the rollercoaster.

****Richard:

and whom Arthur tries to save until the Clown with the Rubber Rainbow Coloured Bat (possible name, SKEETER, learned near climax of story after all clowns have been defeated). After firing the grenade launcher, the body of the girl on the rollercoaster comes falling from the sky, and splatters in front of Arthur, gasping, and blood splatters onto his face.

******Rubber Rainbow Coloured Bat: A regular baseball bat at first glance, but a grenade launcher at a distance where grenades would shoot off the top. She also has sticks of dynamite that cause explosions
