You ask your friend to distract the RA. The RA immediately becomes suspicious and your friend tells them about the toaster almost instantly. Your RA and Meredith both explain to you that having a toaster is a violation of policy, but it doesn't need to be thrown away! You can store it in the Cutler Office until you are able to take the toaster home. You are over the moon. You are a perfect resident and fall asleep happy.
