Gold Rush Choose Your Own Adventure

As you wander through the forest you you look for a place to sleep but have no luck as you start to give up you see what looks like an unoccupied piece of land right by the river. You bend to pick up some sticks and hear a crack behind you. Two miners are facing you with grizzled looks on their faces. “Thief!” one of them cries, and he points directly at you. The other pulls a long piece of rope from his satchel and comes at you. You wrestle as best you can, but they leave you tied to a tree and return to the village to tell the sheriff they have caught a thief. In the quiet of the forest, and in a complete panic, you manage to grab your knife from your pocket. Ever so carefully, you begin to saw at the ropes. It take what feels like forever, but finally you feel a give, and the ropes collapse to the ground. You are free! You run as fast as you can, knowing the miners can’t be too far behind. As you round a bend, you hear voices and someone shouts, “There you are!” Shots are fired, and in a blur, you attempt to hide behind some trees. Footsteps are getting closer. You know you need to make a run for it, or surely be caught. As fast as you can, you dart out from behind the tree, running with all your might to the safety of the river. A shot is fired and you feel a stinging sensation in your back. You feel your knees buckle and everything goes dark.
