You were born in about 1677 to a wealthy Massachusetts merchant family. You travelled to England as a young man to participate in business. When you returned to Massachusetts in 1712, you entered provincial politics and became lieutenant governor thanks to the efforts of your brother Jeremiah.
This war is known as Dummer's War becauss you have a leading role in the colony. You brought the war to a successful conclusion by negotiating a treaty with the Abenakis which formed the basis for a succession of later treaties. You survive the war and die on October 10, 1761 at the age of 84.
