The World After: Chapter One
"Getting in the car will take too much time," you tell yourself. I mean, your truck really only runs fifty percent of the time.
You get a better grip onto your daughter and take your first steps onto this changed world. You realize the neighborhood is broken down just like your life. It seems that this world after the last represents your struggles as a parent, man, and a normal human being. You walk past battered cars from your once alive neighbors. Speaking of neighbors, you seem them all.
Together.
Pale.
Dead.
They all slide their feet in a 180 degree turn to look at you. Once you meet eyes, they run at you. Who ever knew dead people could run so fast! You run the other way, even though you can't run with Juliet and your hungover self. You trip over a dead woman and drop your daughter straight on her head. As you drop her, her head cracks right open and blood spew everywhere. You can't speak. You are broke. You just killed your daughter, if she wasn't dead anyways. You look at your broken daughter, and look up at the horde coming at you. You have nothing left for yourself.
You let death devour you.
