Period 5 HSA

You have decided to leave Shanghai.
A few days later you receive word that the Battle of Shanghaiguan has been a loss. The efforts of your comrades were no match to the industrialized power of the British ships.
You head toward Peking, where you hear that a great force of Boxers have started a siege on the city.
By the time that you head over to Peking, the city has mostly been taken over, but a international force has also arrived at the same time that you have. You join your army of Boxers to fight the international force. Peking has a large wall surrounding the entire city, with four large gates at each direction. All four gates are blasted open by artillery and international troops flood in. You are arrested. Within a couple hours the Boxer rebellion is formally put to an end.
It is only until later until you truly understand what happened. The previous night to the battle, international troops had already positioned themselves at all four gates of Peking. In the middle of the night, the city was retaken by the troops with hardly any opposition.
