Extend the Story - Add a Room

The easy path to becoming a lab technician is relatively straight forward. Assuming you have no formal education at all, you can choose anyone of the forty states that don't license lab technicians and research their opportunities. There are a few basic things to understand and that can be applied across all states.
Do the labs require a certificate of training to work the lab?
Are their vocational schools offering lab certification?
Are their vocational labs that are offering work / study programs?

Copy it.
Then begin making some choices.
Where do you want to live?
If you want to live in a state requires a license to work in a lab then it will take longer to get working in in a medical or bio tech lab.
If you want to live in a state that does not require a license to work in a lab then it will take less time to begin working in a medical or bio tech lab.

States that don't require licenses for working in a lab are easier to get jobs in a lab. And you might be able to just start working in a lab if you are lucky.

Ask for an entry level position in a bio tech institution.
