The Story of A Chinese-American (ACWM)

Refusing to move from the plantation, you resolve yourself to sticking it out with the plantation master. Unluckily for you, Sherman's army cares nothing for your resolve, and on its March to the Sea decides to salvage the plantation for food and torch what cannot be eaten. Your former sharecroppers spread rumors of a cruel Chinese overseer that cheated his way to success, which results in your inability to find a job after your plantation is destroyed. You are left a homeless and penniless Chinese immigrant with rudimentary English, wandering the South and scavenging for a living: indeed, a miserable existence.
