Extend the Story - Add a Room

You're name is Roger Powell.

You are attending college in Seattle and decided that you would take a drive down the coast during your spring break. After a few hours of admiring the coast and taking in some beautiful vistas, you come to an area that you don't recognize. The road takes you inland, and soon the tall pines block out the sun. You check your phone, but find that there is no signal and the GPS is no longer working.

You decide to keep driving while searching for a phone signal, and that's when you notice the sign along the road. It says "Welcome to Timber Grove" in big letters, with smaller letters reading "It Changes You!" beneath it. You've never heard of Timber Grove, but your glad to be somewhere where they have a cell tower.

Your moment of hope gets dashed as your car begins to sputter. Soon you are forced to pull off on the side of the road, and despite all your best efforts you can't get the car started again. As you look up and down the abandoned street, you hear a car coming. It's a police car, and it pulls up along side you and the window rolls down.

"Can I help you, son?" The officer asks from inside his vehicle. He looks trusting enough, with a broad smile and friendly demeanor.

"My car broke down."

"Well the town is just around the corner, and there's a shop there that can get you taken care of. I can give you a ride, if you'd like."

Such an easy question, yet you feel that what you say next will have heavy consequences.

"No thanks, I'll just walk into town."
