The Corporate Ladder
You are immediately fired. You pack up the few personal items you had at the office into a small box and walk out of the building. Your former co-workers avoid eye contact and pretend not to see you go.
The only job you are able to find is flipping burgers at the local fast food joint. You wear the a nametag and it feels like a badge of shame, a scarlet letter.
Six months into your new career, you see your boss come into the restaurant. He doesn't see you, so while preparing his food, you decide to add more of your spit than most of the customers get.
You watch from a distance as he bites into your saliva burger and feel a flash of triumph and power.
It doesn't last long.
