Shit. One or more of Obreal's closest personal guards are members of STOP? Is this how STOP gets all of its information? Is this how STOP has been able to avoid the crushing hand of The Guard for such a long time?
You fumble in your pockets for the off-chance you forgot to return your weapon to the cache today. Your fingers grip the cloth protecting your body and slip away.
Patiently, Paul says, "There's nothing to be afraid of. STOP isn't what it is made about to be. Besides, why would STOP want to hurt you? We've just got a lot to talk about."
It isn't enough. You've got to get out of here and let The Guard know where this organization is meeting. You can go down in history as the guardsman who finally got the terrorist scum.
You feel your heart hurtling in your chest. With no weapon, you've got one choice. You pretend to oblige and climb your body-length down the ladder, secretly grabbing the largest rock you can from the outside in a smooth action.
The ladder leads down about two stories and stops in a thick, lit hallway. Each wall of the hallway seems to have been built purposefully away from the light.
Paul climbs down behind you and grins, "Ready?"
As ever! Now is your time to strike. You feel the rock in your hand one last time. It's only slightly larger than the face of your watch. You let the rock slip out of your hand and pounce on Paul.
The two of you fall around the hallway. Paul is confused, but putting up a great fight. You feel like a drunk as Paul executes smooth actions and twists through and around your grips.
It ends when Paul trips over your body, crushing you beneath him. He's heavy, but breathing isn't a feat. Twisting and squirming alleviates you of most of his weight. There was something else helping, though. His body had slid from on top of you toward one of the dark walls while you were squirming.
The floating face of a zombie squeezes itself between two steel bars and comes into the light. Zombie arms hold Paul flush with the steel bars. His face is inches from his new assailant.
You scramble to your feet and climb the ladder. Below you Paul's screams tamper off slowly. You pull yourself over the ground next to the rusted car and breathe out. You've got to get back to Obreal.
You run as quickly as you can from the forest. You aren't even sure which direction you're going. Somewhere far away, you hear a snaap and your leg is nipped by bullet.
You stop running. Slowly you raise your arms in surrender. The next snap in the distance places a bullet between your eyes.
