Days in the Dorm

Begging For Something

You can't believe you upset her so. You truly feel horrible about it and want to do something to show her how sorry you are. Your day is pretty much ruined and you don't really retain anything you heard in class. All your mind does is linger on Sam and how she is upset with you. How you need to make things right.

You just go home after class and try to get some homework done until she arrives.

She walks in, dropping her bag on her desk and not speaking a word. You sigh, not even waiting for her to take any action, and turn to face her. In a soft and sorrowful voice you speak, looking up at her from your chair. "Samantha. I know I have upset you. Hurt you, somehow. This was never my intent. I want to make it up to you and let you know how sorry I am."

She looks shocked at you, but says nothing.

You put your hands together as if in prayer and continue. "Please accept my apology. Please let things go back to the way they were. I can't stand this tension between us and I am so sorry I caused it."

"Just stop." She says with contempt in her voice and shaking her head.

"Stop what?" You say, still groveling before her. "Stop being sorry for hurting you? Stop caring for you? Stop hurting inside for what I have done to upset you? All I ask is that you accept that I am sorry and give me the chance to start over and get back to where we were."

"No." She says, in a firm voice with growing contempt behind it. "Stop groveling and being a pussy. You are acting stupid and weak."

You bow your head and speak in a low tone. "Sorry. I just wanted you to know how sorry I was."

"Yes, how sorry you are." She says with a snort. "You are rather sorry. I'm just surprised I didn't see it before. I thought you might be pretty cool behind that quiet exterior. Instead you are just one of those weak pussies who don't know what they really want or how to stand up for themselves."

You look at her agog and unable to reply.

"The only thing worse are those assholes who tell you have to live your life without regard for your feelings." She continues with another snort. "At least you have that going for you. Just not with me."

"What?" Your eyes go wide. "What do you mean now with me?"

"I mean there is never going to be a you and me. Stop trying. I am going to be looking for another roommate, I think my friend Darline may be willing. Until then just let it go. Stop trying."

You try to argue the point, but she waves you off without even listening. The next couple weeks see no change in her behavior and attitude towards you. Your sign of weakness seems to have ruined your chances with her, at least in the near future and you don't feel like waiting the year or two it could take to get in the right place again. So for all intents and purposes the story is over.
