You scuttle back, back against the wall, then turn, flee, praying you'll find one of the ventilation holes. Not easy, they're on your tail and you run, run, getting barely ahead of them. "Hey, you! Stop!"
"You think you can make trouble, hunh?!" ring out together, not that you're sticking around for a formal introduction. All you've got on your side is speed and surprise, and you've already lost one.
The hall twists, the lights uncertain, and already you've lost your bearings, but still you run.
Just as they round a corner you dive into what seems like an irregular opening, barely curling yourself up in time to avoid the angry pounding feet. They storm pass, "This way, Sully! I think he ducked down there!" as you catch your breath.
Okay, not the best start. But frankly anyone wandering around down here is probably not going to be friendly. Time to get your bearings.
This tunnel's rather narrow, but it might be worth wriggling through, if you don't mind the pitch black. Still, if you flee now, you just might find a safe place, as they're going to notice your absence any minute. That is, if you can find your way at all.
"Where'd he go?" "I dunno, he just disappeared, we'd better..." but it's just a bit too faint. Uh-oh, sounds like they're coming back, and you know you'd better not stay here. Okay, think fast.
