That's right. You don't know where to begin with the story of you and Knox.
Your name is Joshua Rose. Your friends call you Josh. You're the leader of this team. You're a Profiler, a psychic with the ability to glean remarkable insight into the abilities, behavior, and histories of anyone you meet. You achieve this by reading their aura.
You were born and raised in Texas. Your mother was a woman with alot of problems, namely drugs, alcohol, and a chronic attraction to the wrong kind of men. By the time you were fifteen, you had ran away and joined up with a travelling evangelist who shared a similar psychic ability to your own.
Later, your aunt found you. She taught you about your abilities and got you involved with STAR--an international secret society that hunted down supernatural evil wherever it reared its ugly head. You signed up, wanting to do something more meaningful with your powers.
That's when you met Knox... and Mercy.
Five years ago, the three of you were assigned to the same operations cell. Knox was the commander's clear favorite, but you were well appreciated and respected by the team.
Mercedes "Mercy" Velacruz was Knox's girlfriend at the time. A Spanish beauty with auburn hair and flawless tan skin. She was a psychic, just like you and Knox, but she was a Mender--a psychic healer.
One day, while Knox was away on assignment with the commander, Mercy came looking for you. She found you.
She confided in you concerning doubts she had regarding her relationship with Knox. She confessed to a growing attraction she had for you, something you had known for quite a while, and then before you knew it, the two of you were kissing. You think she kissed you, but it all happened so fast.
You wanted to tell Knox, but Mercy had sworn you to secrecy. Like that did any good... she went ahead and told Knox. Knox was furious with you. He even punched you, in front of your commander.
You were transferred to another cell. Eventually Mercy requested a transfer of her own too.
After another couple years of gaining valuable experience, you were approached by Dr. Zippe, who promptly put you in charge of his new all-psychic special operations team.
And wouldn't you know it, he also happened to recruit Knox and Mercy.
So here you are. You're in New Mexico to investigate the disappearance of a field operations cell. This building is a motel, the last known location of the cell before their sudden disappearance.
Mission Objective: Investigate Disappearance of 'Agent Lupus' and his cell.
