Delmechia

You creep over to your cloak on the floor and pull your dagger of from under it. You should have brought another weapon with you -- it's an almost unforgivable mistake that you didn't -- but this will have to do until you get back.

You stand at the wall to the side of the door and quickly unlatch the bolts and swing open the door in one liquid-quick motion. The guy standing at your door is someone you've never seen before, and he definitely isn't a cop. Standing slightly behind him is the motel owner from earlier, looking nervous. Neither of them are armed.

You raise up your dagger so that they can see it.

"I don't know what the hell you're playing at making all this noise --"

Suddenly there's a mild whoosh from in front of you. Then, all of a sudden a flap of skin falls down your cheek and you fall to ground with half a head, seeing an intense bright light. Then nothing at all.

The motel owner looks at the body with shock. Bits of skull of the walkway.

"Holy shit, his head just exploded! I didn't think it would be like that; I just thought --."

There's another whoosh and the motel owner's head explodes in a spray of gore, too.

"I wouldn't worry about it," says the man on the balcony and then he titters a little bit as he descends the steps, leaving the bodies on the balcony.

A couple seconds later he meets the sniper out on the street.

"Nice shooting."

The sniper smiles.

"Think Cobbs will be happy?"

"He doesn't give a rat's ass about how we take care of business; he just didn't want anyone suspicious in the picture. Blowing off their heads isn't exactly discrete, but we got the job done."

"They weren't eating enough tuna," chuckles the sniper.

The first man gives him an odd look.

"It's an inside joke," says the sniper.

"You're one sick bastard," the man says shaking his head.

The two continue down the street whereupon the crooked gray rain encompasses them and they eventually disappear into the heart of the dark City of Delmechia.
